Miki is an award-winning photographer, best known for their work as a documentary photographer focused on protests and activist movements, combining their love of photography and drive for social justice to create images that inform and inspire people around the world. Getting their start in activist photography at the age of 20 during the 2011 Wisconsin Labor Protests, they went on to document countless protests over the years.
Their photos have been published in places such as VICE News, Village Voice, Al Jazeera, The Real News Network, and The Progressive Magazine, as well as on the cover of several books, although they prefer to utilize social media to independently disperse their images. Miki was awarded Best Photographer at the Shorty Awards, and Runner up for Outstanding Photojournalism at the New America Media Awards.
Aside from documentary photography, Miki has experience shooting portraits, weddings, live performances and events, street photography, and more. Their love for documenting seeps into all aspects of their photography, leading to documentary-style images that capture real, genuine moments - with a bit of an artsy flare.
Miki's photography is very much influenced by the fact that they are AuDHD (autistic and ADHD). They experience the world differently and more intensely than most, and because of this, they often notice little details that others completely pass over. They are also trans and non-binary, and use they/them pronouns.
